Prestatyn
Visit Prestatyn and you will find that you have the whole of the North Wales coast on your doorstep. Prestatyn is the most easterly of all of the coastal towns in this part of Wales and, according to many, is the most picturesque. You will discover that the heart of the town is nestled between rolling hills and beautiful beaches. Here you have the clear mountain air mixing with the salty sea air to give you an uplifting and refreshing experience unlike any other. The hills that edge the town offer shelter to the sandy beaches and allow the town to offer its visitors a pleasant climate for the majority of the year. This is a part of Wales that is popular with walkers because of the broad expanses of coastline and rolling dunes. You will soon discover that Prestatyn is something of a gateway for walkers looking to make the most of the wonderful walking trails and coastal paths that begin here and meander through areas of outstanding natural beauty. If ever there was a place to make your base when wanting to explore northern Wales then this is surely it.
Places to Visit
No trip to Prestatyn would be complete without at least one visit to the beach, or should that be three? Prestatyn boasts three wonderful sandy beaches for you to enjoy along four miles of stunning coastline. The beaches offer spectacular views from the mountains of Snowdonia across to the Isle of Anglesey in one direction, and across to the Wirral in the other. Occasionally if the weather is good you can also catch a glimpse of Blackpool tower in the distance, the Cumbrian Mountains and the Isle of Man. The dunes that edge the beaches are a haven for wildlife and one of the beaches is bordered by a nature reserve. Get out and about and explore the neighbouring seaside towns and see the very best of what this beautiful part of Wales has to offer.
Things to See and Do
With such a wonderful coastline it would be a shame not to make the most of it, so grab your wetsuit and take to the waves. Barkby Beach is popular with lovers of water sports of all description from skimming over the waves on a jet ski, to exploring beneath them on a scuba dive. Try out your golf skills on the pitch and put, you don’t even need to bring your own clubs. If the weather should take a turn for the worse, take the fun inside and enjoy a game of bowling at the Astrobowl at Ffrith beach. If you are after something with a little more adrenalin then there is Prestatyn Circuit; banger racing has proven very popular with families whether taking part or as a spectator. Or, if you prefer to travel at a slightly more gentle place pay a visit to the riding centre and take a ride along the bridle path to the beach for a relaxed seaside horse ride.
This is a great place to visit, and you are sure to have a great time!
